Meeting and Greetings

Oh I went to church last night  and the Pastor gave me a note and it was from Marlee she wanted to meet at the usual place. In front of the Lion's cage. I was to meet her there and we would discuss what to do about our separation and all.

When I went today to met her at the bench I was disguised because I didn't want anyone to notice me.( I felt like a undercover spy) Anyway she decided to give me her phone number and we would talk and we would try to still meet at the Zoo. Or if someone found out we would move to somewhere more confidential. ( Oh it is time for bed for sure any ways my life won't get anymore exciting for a while.) See ya.

Marlee the Brave and social.

I was so excited and sad when I found out about what had happened to Marlee and what she had done. S he was so brave because she had even went up to the teacher and said ''I want to  give the presentation Mrs.Taylor" I wish that I could have been there to see her present or even watch her present. But I can't because as you know. I was officially banished from ever meeting Marlee again, going to the white school or even leaving my own house except to go to school and church. ( Colored mind you) Well it's getting late so I'd better go to bed.

 Mama and Daddy argued all night when they had fond out what I had done as soon as we woke up I was sent to chores and they called the school to tell them that I wouldn't be going to school there anymore. And then came the pain Mother and Daddy told me that I was ONLY permitted to go to COLORED school with all the out of date textbooks, banged up desks and mean kids. I am missing Marlee's school now. The next punishment was to have everlasting chores and No playing with friends or going out to play. Nothing at all was permitted to be special treatment to me fora VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY LONG time.

As I was leaving church yesterday holding my little brother's hand I saw Sally coming down the street in here real expensive car she saw me in the colored part of town. I got chills just seeing her down in this part of town. And I knew pretty well what that had meant. That meant that there was NO way that I was going back to school tomorrow. Oh I completely had forgotten about Marlee she's going to be devastated when she finds out that I was really colored the whole time. And the presentation I just hope and pray that she can forgive me and do the presentation by herself. I will most likely NO definitely get a -F on the presentation. Oh Marlee please understand.

School Reports and a NEW Friend

When Marlee and I met up to practiced our presentation.We practiced our presentation by the animals in the ZOO. Marlee and I absolutely love the lions. Marlee doesn't talk much and I wasn't much surprised when she had actually memorized both of our parts. She is really smart and always makes As or B s. When we practiced today we practiced by the monkeys,  ,elephants,  and many other, and last my favorite the lions. It was really fun. Sorry this entry is short Dear Diary I will try to write more soon.

 Today was SOOO much fun Marlee and I have been meeting at the ZOO every day for  the past couple of weeks and today was our very last one before we have to do our presentation tomorrow. I was so ready and I knew and still know that Marlee is ready even though she still is super nervous about getting up and speaking in front of the whole class. So for a surprise I got us both a turtle from the variety store and some nail polish so that we could paint our names on them and race then we would know who exactly won because I bet you that Marlee would say that she had won or I would have or something like that.

My name is Liz. (I am A.A.) As I walked into the school this chilly August morning I had a really bad case of the butterflies. Just to let you know I knew pretty well the consequences for if I was caught going to a WHITE school when I knew perfectly well that I was African American. I headed to the office and walked every second being terrified that someone would notice that I was African American and send me to jail or something. But I really had nothing to fear it was actually quite easy to talk to the lady at the desk. It was actually so easy that when I had reached my Homeroom I was a pro at talking with the kids I actually made a popular girl really mad when I stood up to her. I saw this one girl by herself and decided to talk to her. When I we got to history for last period I saw that the same girl was with me so I sat right beside her. When Mrs. Taylor ( our history teacher) told us that we had to do a presentation about local history I had decided that I would ask the girl that was sitting right beside me if she would like to be my partner Marlee( I finally remembered her name) she said yes and the girl that I told you about I think her name is Sally she nearly fainted and I haven't the faintest idea why. ut anyways It's late and I need to finish my homework and go to bed.  I'll write tomorrow.
